To Hans Wetzel,
I just got a Luxman L-550AX, sold my Marantz PM-11S1 to finance it, and I have to agree with everything you wrote about it. It is easily the best amp, integrated or otherwise, I have heard. The realism this amp portrays with instruments like piano, drums and sax, and all horns is amazing! With well-recorded jazz and classical, this amp is a dream come true. With my Legacy Classic HD loudspeakers (94dB sensitive, 4-ohm impedance), it plays as loud as I need it to have a realistic listening experience, as some recordings need to be played at a certain volume to hear them properly, in my opinion.
I had put up my Legacy [Classic HDs] on Audiogon, as I thought about getting the Pendragon speakers from Tekton Design, because I thought the 8-ohm [impedance], [and] 95dB sensitivity of those [speakers] would be a match made in heaven with this amp, bringing out its very best qualities. At any rate, [I] wholeheartedly agree with you on this amp!

Glad to hear that I’m not alone, Terry. I really loved the way that thing sounded, and am happy to hear you found synergy with your Legacy loudspeakers. In an ideal world, I’d have one in my private collection! Maybe one day.
As for the Pendragon from Tekton Design, I have been curious what it sounds like. It is a bit unorthodox, what with its three tweeters and pair of 10” woofers in a big ’ol box. I’d say it’s a two-way, but I can’t be sure. One of these days we will have to reach out to them for a review sample. . . . Hans Wetzel
