To Doug Schneider,
Thank you for your insightful review of the Devialet D-Premier. I have purchased one (paired with Wilson Audio Sophia 3s) and am very happy about it, particularly after the Wi-Fi upgrade, which works wonders. I have read in some blogs that the sound of the Devialet can be positively impacted by changing the power cord (e.g., Esoteric 7N-PC7100). Do you have any experience/recommendation on this?
Sincerely,
Vincent
Congratulations, you’re the proud owner of one of the best amplifiers in the world. Frankly, I’m not surprised at all that you’re pleased with it. I never got a chance to try the Wi-Fi module, but I’d like to someday.
Whenever I review a component, I usually use the stock power cord to give the reader the best perspective of what it sounds like right out of the box. I also admit that I’m mostly interested in what the product sounds like on its own, not necessarily what another device might make it sound like, so I don’t tend to play around with power cords or power conditioners that much -- at least not yet. As a result, the review of Devialet’s D-Premier was done without any fancy cords. But I would be interested in learning about your experiences with the D-Premier should you experiment with aftermarket cords, given that I found that its performance with a stock cord was astonishingly high already. So if you do find that the Esoteric power cord you mentioned (or any other) does improve its performance in a meaningful way, please write back in and share it. . . . Doug Schneider
