To S. Andrea Sundaram,
Thanks for your informative review of the Argon2 Anniversary. I was wondering if you could elaborate a bit more on the speaker's performance when playing the first track of "Poems of Thunder." I realize that the speaker cannot go very low in terms of bass extension, but can it handle this sort of recording at high volumes? I am considering these speakers for my 14' x 20' room with 8' ceilings. I use that recording myself for auditioning speakers.
Thanks in advance!
Sam
"High volumes" will mean different things to different people. The Amphion Argon2 Anniversary speakers are capable of playing much louder than most other speakers of similar size and driver area and don't distort when you push them, but there are physical limits to the amount of air such a speaker can move. In a room the size of yours, the Amphions will deliver a punch you can feel with the drums on this track, but the drums won't seem as large as through bigger speakers. If you really want the sensation of having a large bass drum in your listening room, you will need speakers with bigger drivers, more of them, or a subwoofer. . . . S. Andrea Sundaram
